Shooting Sports Commitee
Headed up by Mr. Rick Ayers of Denver in the Heartland District, this team is made up of five of the most knowledgeable and experienced marksman scouters in the Piedmont Council.
The Shooting Sports Committee is chaired by Mr. Willis Ledbetter of Shelby in the Battleground District. Their responsibility is to lead and direct the Piedmont Council Shooting Sports Committee. Their duties include:
- Responsible for developing and delivering all assigned components of all Piedmont Council Shooting Sports Programs within all council properties.
- Promoting a safe shooting sports programs at the unit level.
- Assemble a committee from across the council to support shooting sports programs.
- Assures that all shooting sports programs are of the highest quality in content and delivery.
Vice Chairperson of Training is held by Mr. Joseph ‘Pepper’ Smyth of Morganton in the Lake James District. They are to oversee all training events offered by the Shooting Sports Committee throughout the council and build a Training Task Force to hold training opportunities for unit and community leaders.
Vice Chairperson of Properties is lead by Ms. Bette ‘BeBe’ Newton of Rutherfordton in the Chimney Rock District. They are to oversee the ranges at the Piedmont Council Scout Reservation, and build a Properties Task Force to keep and inventory of the ranges and upkeep of their physical properties.
Vice Chairperson of Communications is lead by Mr. Joshua Trivett of Shelby in the Battleground District. They are to oversee that events are communicated to both the council office and the committee as a whole.
