Approved Unit Overnighters
Unit Overnight Campout Sites
These are unit-organized overnight events involving more than one families from a single unit; focused on age-appropriate unit-level activities and conducted at council-approved locations.
If nonmembers (siblings) participate, the event must be structured accordingly to accommodate them. Current BSA health and safety youth protection guidelines apply. Each youth member must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Overall, each youth participant is responsible to a specific adult leader, parent, or guardian.
At least one adult on a pack overnighter must have completed Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) to properly understand the importance of their program intent, youth protection guidelines, health and safety, site selection, age-appropriate activities, and sufficient adult participation; permits for campouts shall be issued locally.
NOTE: If you have found a public or private campground facility that meets the BSA Mandatory Standards as listed on the Unit Overnighter Site Appraisal Form (found below) that is NOT listed below, we recommended that you complete and submit the following form to your local Scouting professional (listed to the right) no more than 30 days out from your event.
