Position Trained Requirements All Programs

Hazardous Weather Training

Effective April 30, 2018 direct contact leaders must complete Hazardous Weather Training to be considered position trained. - Link

This requirement is for “Direct Contact Leaders” only.     Please see the attachment for more details and note this training isn’t currently required for Merit Badge Counselors.

However, some Merit Badges are outdoor oriented – climbing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, fly fishing, etc, etc, etc..    For these counselors, Hazardous Weather Training is highly recommended, yet, not required at this time.

It’s just a good practice to take this training.   Haven’t, yet,  communicated this matter to Merit Badge Counselors.    Please give me feedback on the Hazardous Weather subject.   At the present time, this would be completely optional, but strongly recommended.   The training is available online and will not require Advancement Committee involvement other than promotion to outdoor Merit Badge Counselors.

How to take Youth Protection

An updated youth protection training is available for staff, leaders and parents (Youth Protection Y01). The training includes a three-module course that all leaders will be required to complete by September 30, 2018. The training encompasses Venturing and Exploring Youth Protection, therefore those videos are no longer available.

We encourage you to take the new training and spread the word. For technical questions or issues, please contact the Member Care Contact Center at myscouting@scouting.org.
