“Scouting America is considering adding some new merit badges!"
The Gastonia Scout Shop would like to highlight one this summer; the "Life Skills Merit Badge".
This "new" merit badge can help scouts develop a variety of practical skills that are essential for independent living and personal growth. It covers areas such as health, household management, finance, social interactions, employment readiness, and transportation. Scouts learn how to maintain their physical and mental well-being, manage personal finances, care for their living spaces, communicate effectively with others, explore career options, and safely navigate transportation systems. By completing the requirements, scouts gain valuable tools for responsible decision-making and become better prepared to take on adult responsibilities.
Now tell me, how many families think this should be a new merit badge for Scouting America? “YES”!
So, don’t wait and sign-up today! There will be a few prerequisites to be completed at home, especially in the household management section (this will be shared closer to the start of the course). Since this is a trial for a new merit badge under Scouting America, there will no blue card. There will be a survey to complete when scouts finish the merit badge (so, bring a device to complete the survey). Once the survey is complete, each scout will recieve a limited edition patch!
Note: Scouting America and the Piedmont Council will keep record of any scouts that complete this merit badge. If the merit badge gets national approval from Scouting America, each scout will be awarded the Life Skills Merit Badge!
