6-7:15 PM- Campsite Set-up
7:15 PM- Opening Ceremony
Saturday Schedule:

Note: We may get out earlier than 5 PM on Saturday, but plan to be there until 5 PM.

Lakeland and Lake James Districts will be co-hosting an Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) Course on Oct. 2-3, 2020 at Center United Methodist Church in Catawba, NC.  Scoutmasters must complete the IOLS, Leader Specific Training through their account, and Youth Protection Training, to be fully trained.  The course will be held at an outdoor facility and will be limited to 16 participants until the State Covid-19 restrictions are loosened to allow for more participants.

This training will be following the Governor’s Executive Order for Covid-19 restrictions.  It is important to note that even though we will be following the Governor’s order, this does not completely eliminate the risk of Covid-19 exposure.  Each staff member and course participant must evaluate their own unique circumstances and make an informed decision concerning whether or not to attend this training.  The national office has provided a Restart for Scouting Checklist that addresses the Covid-19 pandemic.  You are encouraged to review this by clicking on the following link:

Here are the current guidelines from Executive Order 155 which extends Phase 2:

WHEREAS, the undersigned has also urged that all people in North Carolina follow social distancing recommendations, including that people should: (i) wear a cloth covering over the nose and mouth, (ii) wait six (6) feet apart and avoid close contact, and (iii) wash hands often or use hand sanitizer;”

Temperature checks will be taken and health questions will be asked for each staff member and participant upon arrival to the course site.  If anyone records a high temperature or has come in recent contact with someone with Covid-19, they will be required to immediately leave the site and a refund will be issued for the course fees (a check will be mailed after the event).  We will have soap and hand sanitizer on site but participants are also encouraged to bring their own as an added precaution.  Please bring your own cloth face covering.  If the State loosens restrictions by the time of the course, then the course will adjust the requirements to match the Governor’s most current Executive Order.

The ingredients for 2 meals will be provided for Saturday breakfast and Saturday lunch.  Please report any food restrictions that you have during the on-line registration process.  Please note that we may not be able to accommodate for some food restrictions.  “Be Prepared.”
