2026 Freaky Fall Festival--Weekend # 1

Freaky Fall Festival is a weekend for Cub Scouts to experience a fun time at Camp Bud Schiele! They will spend time in the Range and Target Area, fishing, playing games, as well as other program areas. This event uses a round robin schedule to ensure they do not miss a thing! Another favorite event for Freaky Fall Festival is the Trick or Treat Trail where your scout can dress up (not required) and walk a trail where they will gather treats to enjoy! And don’t forget the campfire where everyone gathers around the fire to wrap up the amazing day.

Need to Know 

• Dates:  

                        --FFF Weekend #1 October 9-11, 2026  

                        --FFF Weekend #2 October 23-25, 2026  

(This is such a great event we are now offering it twice to accommodate more Cubs!!) 

• Check-In: Friday from 5:30-7:30 pm OR Saturday from 7:30-8:30 am 

• Check-Out: Sunday by 11 am 

• Cost: $40 per person. (Cubs MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian)  

• Meals Included: Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday breakfast.  

• Space is limited!  

• Part A & B of the Health Form is REQUIRED for EACH participant including both youth AND adult.  No physician signature is required. 

 

T-Shirts 

Pre-ordering t-shirts is REQUIRED. They will be available for pick-up at check-in. T-shirts are $18 each.  The deadlines to order t-shirts are as follows:  

• Friday, September 25th, 2026, for FFF Weekend #1 

• Friday, October 2nd, 2026, for FFF Weekend #2 

 

Additional Points of Interest 

• Freaky Fall Festival will be held on the main side of camp. 

• Campsites have wooden platforms where you may place your own tent. The platforms in the campsites are 7'6" deep and 9'6" wide. 

• Campsites will be assigned by event coordinators. Packs will be grouped together when possible. 

• Fishing is available during any free time that you may have. You will need to bring your own fishing gear, and please remember that we are a catch and release facility. 

• Closed-toe shoes are a must for anyone participating in Range and Target activities. 

• Please encourage your scouts to wear insect repellent, stay on durable surface pathways (poison ivy is present in the heavily wooded areas of camp), maintain the ‘buddy system’, and always travel from station to station with a partner. 

• Halloween costumes are more than welcome on Saturday evening’s Trick or Treat Trail; however, they are not required. It is most important to be warm and comfortable.  

• We will have a closing campfire on Saturday evening.  

• A health officer will be on duty; however, all parents are encouraged to bring their own small first aid kit. 

• You will park in the activity field. Trailers will then carry your gear to your campsite.  

Refunds 

Refunds are available through Friday, October 2nd at 3:00 pm for FFF Weekend # 1 and Friday, October 16th at 3:00 pm for FFF Weekend # 2—Contact Trilby Coleman at Trilby.Coleman@scouting.org to request refund. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER THESE DATES!! 

 

Friday Arrivals: 

• If you choose to arrive on Friday, please know that meal service does not begin until Saturday breakfast. You will need to provide your own dinner on Friday night. 

• Check-in starts at 5:30pm and ends at 7:30pm. Location for registration to be determined.  

• While there is no electricity available at individual campsites, each campsite has a water source and a bathroom. 

• The central bathhouse and restroom facilities will also be available (which has hot showers and electricity). 

 

Saturday Arrivals: 

• Check-in is from 7:30-8:30 am at location to be determined.  

• There will be an Opening Ceremony starting at 9:45 am. (Map and full schedule will be posted closer to event). 

• There will be free time during the day to set up your campsite, unload gear, etc. 

• While there is no electricity available at individual campsites, each campsite has a water source and a bathroom. 

• The central bathhouse and restroom facilities will also be available (which has hot showers and electricity).

Important Reminders 

• Electricity is NOT available in campsites. 

• The address is 668 Boy Scout Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. 

• Pre-Registration is REQUIRED for this event!!! 

• Smoking and vaping is only permitted in designated area located beside the camp office. 

• NO alcohol is allowed on premises. 

• NO firearms are allowed on premises.  

• Our camp currently has a Health Lodge under construction.  No one should cross the barriers into the construction zone.  Please observe all caution tape/signage.
