Event Schedule

Thursday July 7th

 

10 AM – 11:30 AM

Arrival / Check-In / Camp Orientation

Lunch (Main Dining Hall)

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Astronomy constellation night light and compass construction kit. Use maps of camp to find simple directions using compass they construct and map of camp.

Draw and label 5 constellations Requirement 2 Option A (c)

Draw a diagram of our Solar System identifying planets and other objects. Requirement 2 Option A(b)

3:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Requirement 3(c) Design and construct a model of a Mars rover. Use recycled materials and your imagination

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Star Gazing Activities

Requirement 2 Option A(a) - Demonstrate how to focus a telescope.

Requirement 3 (a) – Investigate the stars using a telescope. (b) – Find 5 different constellations and draw them. (c) – Share with leader and discuss if the constellations would be in the same location next week, month, year.

Additional Notes

  • Participation is limited to the first FIFTY scouts and their families.
  • This is open to all rising scouts in second grade through fifth grade (2nd-5th grade).
  • Cost is $100 per scout and $50 per adult with each scout.
  • Cost includes nine meals, program, a patch, and tent camping on-site at Camp Bud Schiele.
  • Activities include swimming, canoeing, bb-guns, archery, astronomy / star gazing, handicraft activities, campfire programs, and the opprtunity to earn a STEM NOVA AWARD all while enjoying nature at Camp Bud Schiele.
