IOLS-Lincolnton Sportsman Club
This hands-on training gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a youth-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors. Instructors will present the basic camping skills required for a Scout’s advancement from Tenderfoot to First Class: how to set up camp, build a campfire, cook, learn about ropes, work with woods tools, plant and animal identification, map reading and compass skills, packing and hiking techniques, and Outdoor Ethics.
This course is required for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to receive the Trained Patch. Prerequisites for IOLS include Scoutmaster Specific Training (online or classroom training), Weather Hazards Training (online), and Youth Protection Training (online). The online training is available at http://my.scouting.org.
Arrival time Saturday morning is 8:00am. Dismissal will be Sunday morning at 11:00am.
