National Youth Leadership Training
September 11-12, September 24-26 and October 8-10, 2010

This fall, the Piedmont Council will be conducting the annual National Youth Leadership Training Conference at Piedmont Scout Reservation near Rutherfordton, NC.  The course will be conducted over three weekends at the Training Center:  September 11-12, September 24-26, and October 8-10, 2010.

This year's course will be taught in three (3) separate sections, Six (6) patrols will use the traditional method that has been used for years - in two (2) separate troops.  These traditional participants will use the training area of camp.  Three (3) additional patrols will participate in a backpacking course on the wilderness area of camp.  Those who register for the backpacking course will be sent an equipment list of what they need to bring.  The Scout uniform is required as part of both the traditional and backpack programs.  (No camo, please).

NYLT is designed for Scouts who are at least 13 years old, have First Class skills, and currently hold or intend to hold a Troop leadership position.  A Scout must have participated in Troop Leader Training (TLT), be mature enough and responsible enough to spend the weekend camping, and have his parent's and Troop Leader's approval.

The staff for this training event is comprised of Scouts and Leaders from throughout the Piedmont Council.  The group is highly focused and eager to share their knowledge and passion for training.  Scouts participating in this NYLT will have fun, but they will also bring back a wealth of knowledge and information that will ultimately improve the quality of the Troop program.

The cost of the course will be $150.00 per person and will be limited to the first 72 participants.  This fee includes all food, program materials, insurance, program expenses, one T-shirt, neckerchief, name tag and a course patch.  Please click below to register on line or print off an application or pick one up at the Council office.  If you need more information, you can contact the Course Professional Adviser, Thad Cloer at 704-472-6847, email:  thad.cloer@scouting.org.
